Message from the President:
Sometimes catastrophes bring positive change. I see a trend happening in Ramona after our devastating Witch Fire. This is an encouraging trend, which is uniting this community. Community groups are forming and collaborating with each other to address the needs of Ramona in a constructive way. There is no finger pointing or blame, just affirmative reinforcement that we need to work together. I have always advocated that if we all speak in one voice we can truly have the Ramona that we deserve. Our infrastructure will improve and our quality of life and safety will give us peace of mind. This is all done by volunteers who spend countless hours serving this community on boards such as the Ramona Municipal Water District, Ramona Community Planning Group, Ramona Unified School District, Ramona Design Review Board, Ramona Chamber of Commerce, City of Ramona Now, Citizens for a Better Ramona just to name a few. All who participate on these groups should be commended for their service to our community. With one voice we have a better chance of having our local government stand up and listen to the needs of our community. If we can keep this momentum, there is no telling how much we can accomplish. Okay, enough of my Dr. Philisms!
The Chamber committees are working on bringing some great events to Ramona this year. We are stepping it up by bringing in Country Star Hal Ketchum for a concert at the Ramona Country Fair on Sunday, August 3, 2008. The Ramona Idol Competition is coming back and we anticipate this will be a great family fun event. There are sponsorship packages available at a low cost to give your business a presence at the fair. Call the Chamber for more information.
The Ramona Chamber of Commerce is losing a priceless member of our Director Team. Tricia Hansen and her husband Keith (Mr. McSteamy), as I refer to him, are relocating out of Ramona. Although we are losing a valuable team member, we wish them the best as they have both served our community in more ways than I can mention.
